The latest-version answer has an evidence gap
We could not verify a current PSP firmware listing from Sony during this check. The old US update address redirected to a legal page, and a legacy update endpoint failed to respond. That is a retrieval limitation—not evidence that your installed firmware is current or that no later release exists.
Sony’s surviving online manual explicitly covers system software 6.60. That number identifies the manual edition, not a verified latest release. We do not turn it into a “download the latest 6.60” recommendation. F11
What Sony’s archived page confirms
Sony’s preserved support page dates 6.61 to January 15, 2015 and covers PSPgo. That resolves the historical release question, not today’s download availability. H400
The page includes 6.60 notes and model-specific download distinctions. Its old “6.60 or later” notice conflicts with its 6.61 heading; we do not reuse that notice as installation advice. The separate archives below retain each model family’s evidence. H400
How complete is the PSP version list?
The second inventory check matches 61 version labels, with 0 only in our list and 0 only in the comparison. It compares community catalog labels, not Sony release notes. Matching lists can share omissions; this is not proof of every public release. I900
Pre-release builds are outside this comparison. Factory-installed and disc-only versions need different evidence from public downloads. Those distribution classifications remain research leads, not verified installation advice. The comparison does not establish PSPgo applicability. I900
Identify what is installed first
Use System Information to read the installed software version. Keep the model number with it; “PSP” alone is not enough context for choosing an installation method. F10
What Sony’s manual still establishes
The manual documents System Update through Internet or Storage Media. PSP-N1000 (PSPgo) stores downloaded update data in system storage; PSP-1000/2000/3000/E1000 use Memory Stick media. The network procedure specifically requires inserted Memory Stick media on 1000/2000/3000 systems. Storage-media updating searches for prepared update data; some game discs also include it. F09
Charge the battery before starting. Sony warns against removing the storage media or AC adapter, or switching off during installation. A failed endpoint is not a reason to use an unverified package or to assume two model families can share any file found online. F09
Why there is no firmware download button here
This reference does not host executables or certify third-party archives. The historical release is now documented, but we have not established a working, current official download for your model. Do not treat the archived page or its old links as verified installation files.
Read the milestones as history
Sony’s 6.20 announcement connected the update to Digital Comics and Media Go playlist export. Version 6.35 prepared for Qriocity music. Version 6.60 was described as an upcoming minor update in the PS3 3.70 announcement. These are dated primary records, but they do not form a complete PSP release sequence. F16 · F17 · F18
The manual itself warns that service changes may not be reflected in its pages. A historical menu icon is therefore not proof that its service is available today. Read the PSP history for the platform’s development and the legacy-store guide for separate access questions. F11

PSP / PSPgo historical update archive
61 version records; 61 with Sony notes or feature announcements; 0 with notes missing (including timing-only evidence). This combines the checked current notes, dated Sony announcements and a preservation operator’s catalog. It is broader than Sony’s current rolling list, but not a certified list of every public release.
61 records. All versions remain readable without JavaScript.

How to interpret this archive
Each version has a bookmarkable link. A catalog entry establishes what the preservation operator lists, not that Sony released it over the public network. Factory, disc-only and model-limited distribution may require more evidence. Separate recovery, beta, developer, hybrid and delta-patch catalogs were not imported. Package variants within the selected tables remain labeled.
Article dates and available-by bounds are not silently converted into firmware release dates. Available-by means the version was already available on that date in the named source region; it does not establish its first release day. Beta previews, withdrawn releases and delayed rollouts keep their qualifications. Old services may no longer work. We do not host, download, authenticate or recommend archived firmware packages, and this is not a downgrade guide.
PSPgo historical update archive
12 version records; 12 with Sony notes or feature announcements; 0 with notes missing (including timing-only evidence). This combines the checked current notes, dated Sony announcements and a preservation operator’s catalog. It is broader than Sony’s current rolling list, but not a certified list of every public release.

PSPgo has a separate catalog. An identically numbered PSP release is not enough to infer PSPgo model support or identical installation files.
What this record does—and does not—prove
Source check: . 61 version records; 61 with Sony notes or feature announcements; 0 with notes missing (including timing-only evidence). Separate PSPgo catalog below; latest Sony listing remains unverified. This is a manually reviewed reference, not a live device check or a download mirror. Historical fixes are not a list of unresolved problems in the latest software.
We have not tested these releases on hardware. A short maintenance note does not identify a particular crash, frame-rate gain or security vulnerability. No reported issue here should be read as “bug-free.” If your console reports a newer version, use Sony’s current instructions and treat this snapshot as due for review.
