Returning to an old console
Sign in through the supported account route. Sony’s PS3/Vita instructions require a device setup password generated through official browser account management. Use the official account page. This publication should never ask for your PlayStation password, device password or recovery codes. N06
Use the download list for existing purchases. Sony’s PS3 and Vita manuals describe their respective download-list routes. Check the account that acquired the content, the console’s storage and any activation requirements. A historical download procedure does not promise that every old entitlement will be recoverable indefinitely. N07 N08
Do not assume PS3-to-Vita transfer is still the answer. Sony lists that route as discontinued in May 2022. Direct re-download instructions and transfer instructions are different functions; losing one does not, by itself, prove the other has stopped. Where new purchases still operate, use the separately documented wallet/payment options rather than expecting console card or PayPal checkout to behave as it did before 2021. N04
Why the 2021 closure articles are not enough
Sony reversed its proposed PS3 and Vita Store closures in April 2021. That reversal is a historical event, not a perpetual guarantee. The same announcement named a planned PSP commerce endpoint of July 2; later support records July 6, 2021. Keep those differently dated statements instead of rewriting the record to make them appear identical. H40 N04
What still needs checking
The named August phase needs evidence of actual implementation. Mexico needs a dated reconciliation between the global and local notices. The later-2026 phase needs a country list before this site can assign any additional country to it. No comprehensive guarantee of all future patch servers, multiplayer functions or every individual license has been found in these notices.
The correct public status for those questions is unverified or conflicting, not “closed” guessed from a calendar or “open forever” inferred from the ability to find a product page. A reader report can flag a problem, but should retain the account country, console, action and observation date, with personal identifiers removed. It is a lead to verify, not an automatic official status change.
