One version listing, two installation routes

Sony lists 3.74 for both PS Vita and PS TV, released on 10 May 2022. The US page writes 05/10/22 and the UK page writes 10/05/22; we reconcile the locales rather than treating them as different releases. The 3.74 notes describe device-password sign-in and browser-based account management. F06 · F25

Update a PS Vita handheld

In Settings, select Start → System Update → Update Using Wi-Fi. The documented system update cannot use a 3G mobile-data connection. Sony also lists PC/Content Manager, PS3 and game-card methods; those older workflows are not tested on current computers here. Use the full official instructions if Wi-Fi is unavailable. F06

Update PS TV—not the handheld

PS TV can check through a wired or wireless connection in Settings → Start → System Update. Its separate USB procedure uses PSVITA/UPDATE/PSVUPDAT.PUP, at least 150MB free, and Safe Mode’s Update System Software → Update from USB Storage Device. Follow Sony’s PS TV instructions for entering Safe Mode and connecting the controller; do not transfer this USB procedure to Vita handhelds. F06

Sign-in failure is not necessarily an installation failure

For PS3 and Vita, generate a Device Setup Password in Sony’s browser-based Account Management, then use it with your sign-in email on the device instead of your normal account password. You can revoke it later. Never enter either password on this website. F12

The history explains familiar features

Vita 1.80 was announced with PSone Classics support, Cross-Controller and button navigation. Version 2.00 accompanied Plus plans, an email app and wireless PC transfers. The North American announcement distinguishes firmware and Store timing; it should not become a single worldwide launch date. F19 · F20

Version 2.10 introduced home-screen folders and browser video with limitations, including a memory-card requirement for video and unsupported formats. Themes were announced with 3.30 for autumn 2014. These entries describe Vita at the time: they are not proof that PS TV inherited every feature, or that each old online service still operates. F21 · F22

Before trying a recovery method

Identify the device first. A handheld, a TV-connected PS TV and a PSP are not interchangeable targets even if a search result says “PlayStation portable update.” Keep the original error and the official instruction page together. If you cannot establish that a method is for your device, stop before selecting reset, format or restore.

Use the legacy-store reference for purchasing and redownloading questions. This firmware hub does not infer whether a service closure has happened from its announced date.

Current Sony page: retained notes

This smaller table preserves the 2 entries still shown on Sony’s current page; the expanded historical archive is below. These are concise summaries; follow the source for full notes. “Not established” means the source did not give us a release day—not that the update never shipped.

51 version records; 51 with Sony notes or feature announcements; 0 with notes missing (including timing-only evidence). How to interpret this archive

Each version has a bookmarkable link. A catalog entry establishes what the preservation operator lists, not that Sony released it over the public network. Factory, disc-only and model-limited distribution may require more evidence. Separate recovery, beta, developer, hybrid and delta-patch catalogs were not imported. Package variants within the selected tables remain labeled.

Article dates and available-by bounds are not silently converted into firmware release dates. Available-by means the version was already available on that date in the named source region; it does not establish its first release day. Beta previews, withdrawn releases and delayed rollouts keep their qualifications. Old services may no longer work. We do not host, download, authenticate or recommend archived firmware packages, and this is not a downgrade guide.

This is the Vita-family catalog. Early Vita versions are not asserted to run on PS TV. Only the shared current Sony listing and specifically documented PS TV features establish PS TV applicability.

What this record does—and does not—prove

Source check: . 51 version records; 51 with Sony notes or feature announcements; 0 with notes missing (including timing-only evidence). This is a manually reviewed reference, not a live device check or a download mirror. Historical fixes are not a list of unresolved problems in the latest software.

We have not tested these releases on hardware. A short maintenance note does not identify a particular crash, frame-rate gain or security vulnerability. No reported issue here should be read as “bug-free.” If your console reports a newer version, use Sony’s current instructions and treat this snapshot as due for review.
